About the Guidebook
The grand fort is 500 years old which is also the age of the city. It is a fabulous vantage point to see and photograph the famous blue city of Bharmapur. Jodhpur has another sobriquet 'The Blue City' to its credit, thanks to the houses of Brahmins painted in blue. It is amusing indeed to see rows and rows blue houses. In India, one can see these spectacular views only here. From here one can clearly see how the city of Jodhpur has expanded around this fort over the centuries. All the notable tourist interest places are visible from here, viz. Jaswant Hada , Umaid Bhawan Palace , Clock Tower , Pond. Ain't it amazing that you can see whole city from a single vantage point. The descendents of the royal family who once ruled the land still live in the city in the famous Umaid Bhavan Palace.
Local Knowledge & Cool Perks
I visited the city on my friend’s wedding, who happens to be born and brought up in Jodhpur. He revealed the many secrets of this city. It’s indeed exciting to have a friend who lives in one of those famous blue houses! I mostly walked through the old city area and in the process discovered many offbeat destinations.
